Somebody, call Olivia Pope STAT. French newspapers just published some ridiculous nonsense. The second largest newspaper in France, le Figaro, pulled the ultimate troll and front-paged rumors of an affair between Beyonce and President Barack Obama.
Pascal Rostain, aka the French Perez Hilton, sparked the made up rumor in a radio interview that inspired the news blunder. A translation of his words has been provided by Gawker:
"You know, at this time, the United States, there is something big that is happening. Anyway, it'll go out tomorrow in the Washington Post—we cannot say that it is the gutter press—[a story about] an alleged affair between President Barack Obama and Beyoncé. I can assure you that the world will be talking about it."
A rep for the The Washington Post responded in an interview with Poynter, saying that they have no intention of writing any such story.
