Manchester United star Wayne Rooney has signed a new bumper contract that will keep him at the club until 2018, according to the Sunday Times.
The contract will net Rooney a staggering £300,000-per-week, a Premier League record and a rise of £50,000-per-week on his current wages at Old Trafford.
It will also see the England International at the club until the age of 33, squashing rumours of any transfer away from Manchester United, a huge relief for fans and players.
There has been no official word from the club, but according to a report from the Sunday Times the deal will be completed and will make Rooney the highest paid player in the Premier League.
It seems the signing of Juan Mata for a record £37.1 million has persuaded Rooney to stay with the club and the belief that David Moyes is the right man for the job is a major factor in making the decision to renew his contract.
This news is huge for the club as suggestions the 29-year-old will leave the club in the summer are now all but false. The England man, who will be key at the World Cup this summer, has been the main man for United so far this season.
